US2020 RTP started with an idea. Get good mentors to good kids in need, and watch good things come from it. Year 1 was wrapped with a sense of accomplishment and wisdom. With over 1400 kids helped last year, we can say with confidence we are on our way. In Year 2, we want more.

ThrougBrentwooGirdh a meaningful expansion of our vision, we hope to be able to continue to establish mentoring connections. In addition to mentoring opportunities, we will be expanding the program to include the facilitation internships and externships, job shadowing opportunities, career fairs and tours for both students and teachers. This expansion of vision is already being  implemented through the development of new events and projects for US2020 RTP.

We are pleased to announce that we were able to facilitate a partnership between Biogen and Southern School of Energy and Sustainability, a magnet school in Durham. This pilot project will be a 1:1 match of 20 students and 20 Biogen professionals. They will be meeting in a variety of ways throughout the school year to expand student understandings of the work that Biogen does and to inspire students about the potentials of STEM. This new venture was announced on August 13, 2015. We also had the privilege of hosting the staff of Brentwood Elementary Magnet School of Engineering on August 14, 2015 for a tour and inspiration session at The Frontier. After, they had the opportunity to tour and explore the Park.  These types of activities help us achieve our mission in an entirely new way. We believe in the possibility of great minds imagining together. Working to provide better STEM opportunities for under serviced youth is what keeps us going.

Coordinating connections. Engaging Events. Mentoring and more.
